Praising God for the Gift of His Son Today and Always
The holiday season is so much fun with families getting together to enjoy sharing with each other and reminiscing. As the spirit of Christmas is all around us today, the joy of giving also abounds. Giving so much to make sure everyone has a joyous Christmas is fun. Church, school, and civic groups have all shared in the spirit of giving again this year at Christmas. Close to 50 gathered together this past Tuesday evening to visit with and sing Christmas carols for our older members while sharing with them a gift basket as well. It truly is fun to [...]
The Blessing of Sharing
I want to continue to commend you as a congregation of God’s people. The response to the helping of families in need has gone great again this year. Thank you for the great response last Sunday to the other local family we were made aware of that needed help. All of the presents for these four families will be delivered this week to make their Christmas a Merry and Joyful time. What a joy we will all have this Tuesday evening in singing Christmas carols in the homes of so many of our older members to wish them a very [...]
Remembering the Word of the Lord during Tough Times
During these tough times that many of us are facing, how should we be responding? I want to encourage you to remember the word of the Lord when times get tough, and keep on meditating on His precious word to give you strength and guidance. And through each day of this glorious week, remember also to focus on heaven seeking “… those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1) God bless you. I love you. Kevin Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; [...]
Winter Quarter Bible Study Opportunities
The winter quarter for our Bible School Program begins today. I hope and pray we will all choose to be a part of Sunday morning and Wednesday evening opportunities to grow spiritually from a regular study of God’s word as we make application to living for Christ daily. There are classes for all ages on Sunday morning and Wednesday evenings. Make both of these times each week a blessing for you and your family by being involved in these Bible study opportunities. Choose now to also be a part of Christmas Caroling on Tuesday evening, December 20. We will meet [...]
Making Thanksgiving a Season of Giving Thanks
I love this time of year. We have just enjoyed the beautiful colors of fall. The days are now shorter and coolness is all around us as winter fast approaches. With this time of year also comes Thanksgiving. This is my favorite two months of the year. It is a time when families spend more time together. As we do, let us be reminded of how blessed we are. We truly do have so many things to be thankful for. First we need to remember how blessed we are to live in this country. Only the United States and Canada [...]
God’s Splendor at Work This Fall
With the coming of autumn officially here, we will be experiencing once again the splendor and beauty of God’s creation as we witness the changing of the seasons. God will be at work through His Son in “…upholding all things by the word of His power.” (Hebrews 1:2-3) Last month as four of us from Leanna participated in Polishing the Pulpit, I was talking with one of the local residents of Gatlinburg regarding the lack of tourists in the area as school had just started back and she said, “Yes, but we’ll be very busy again with all the “leaf [...]

Comings and Goings and Opportunities
We have a group of 16 from one of the Adult Sunday School Classes away on a Fall Retreat this weekend. Please pray for their safe return from Gatlinburg later today. Also remember in prayer a group of 6 who will be away at Rush Weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday at Freed-Hardeman University. We also have a great opportunity to help those in need through the Leanna Youth Fall Food Drive. The goal set for us as a congregation is to bring 1000 items by Oct 30th. The suggested items to bring each week are listed below. Let us [...]
What Are You Going to Do Tomorrow?
This is what we call “Labor Day Weekend.” Most people will be off from work tomorrow. We will enjoy spending the day in what we choose to do, most of us choosing to spend it in enjoyable activities with friends and family. While doing so it will be so easy to crowd God completely out of our day. Plan now to include God in your “Labor Day” activities lest you crowd Him out. There is no better way to do so than to start your day with God. This is so important if we are going to be all God [...]
Coaches are Preaching
It’s that time of year again. Before the schools even open, football teams are busily engaged in preparing for the coming season. You can rest assured that across the nation there is one sermon being preached by all the coaches to their athletes – the importance of teamwork. Winning a game depends upon everyone fulfilling his assignment. No single person, regardless of the wealth of his talent, can produce a winning season without the cooperation of his teammates. Someone has to run, someone has to block, someone has to throw, someone has to catch, and someone has to defend. If [...]
